The last Masterclasses of 2022 were held in the Netherlands: Heva organized two major events in Heelsum and Rotterdam last November 2 and 3.

The two Dutch Masterclasses – conducted by Fred Nijhuis – were dedicated to the presentation of PDO wines and agri-food products originating from volcanic terroirs and protected by appellations participating in the project: Consorzio Tutela Vini Soave e Recioto di Soave, Consorzio di Tutela Vini Lessini Durello, Union of Santorini Cooperatives – Santo Wines and Consorzio per la Tutela del Formaggio Monte Veronese.
Both events, in Heelsum (Nov. 2, 2022 | Restaurant De Kromme Dissel) and Rotterdam (Nov. 3, 2022 | Vineum Restaurant) were attended by a large group of journalists and trade operators to encourage the Dutch press to learn more about volcanic soils. HEVA brings together territories in Veneto, Italy and in Santorini, Greece: complex and fertile environments whose generous soils bear wines and cheeses distinguished by remarkably intense flavors, minerality, and surprising longevity.

The masterclasses held in the Netherlands were the last of the events organized by Heva – “Heroes of Europe: Volcanic Agriculture” for 2022.
The project brought hundreds of journalists, media and industry professionals together to meet and learn about the peculiarities of the volcanic soils that yield outstanding European PDOs. The Dutch Masterclasses come after those held in Spain (Sept. 28) and Sweden (Oct. 3-6), as well as the international press tour to Italy and Santorini, held last Oct. 10-14.
