On February 21, 2024, in the central hall of the DOP Valencia Council, Heva – “Heroes of Europe: Volcanic Agriculture” – made a captivating appearance before an audience of food and wine professionals, journalists, and influencers.
The Masterclass, led by Pedro Ballesteros, a Spanish Master of Wine, was dedicated to the Sueños de volcán, or “dreams of the volcano.” This event marked the third edition of the format, which had been previously held in March of the previous year. Sueños de volcán showcased PDO wines and food products originating from volcanic terroirs and protected by the associations participating in the Heva project. These associations included the Consorzio Tutela Vini Soave e Recioto di Soave, Consorzio di Tutela Vini Lessini Durello, Union of Santorini Cooperatives – Santo Wines, and Consorzio per la tutela del formaggio Monte Veronese DOP.

Each wine showcased the unique characteristics of volcanic terroirs, with expressions of minerality, acidity, and fruit profiles that are distinctive to wines grown in volcanic soil.
The Masterclass provided attendees with a rare opportunity to explore and appreciate the diversity and quality of wines produced from volcanic terroirs across Europe. Through Heva’s initiative, these wines and food products are not only celebrated but also protected, ensuring the preservation of their unique heritage and the continuation of their production for generations to come.
