November 2023 proved to be an exceptional month for the HEVA – Volcanic Agriculture of Europe project, as it took center stage in two internationally acclaimed events. The mission to promote high-quality agricultural production from European volcanic regions garnered attention and active participation in two significant gatherings: the Merano Wine Festival and a Masterclass at the Forum Vini in Munich.
1. Merano Wine Festival – November 3-6, 2023: The Merano Wine Festival has long been recognized as one of the most prestigious events in the global wine scene. From November 3 to 6, 2023, the Volcanic Agriculture of Europe project took the spotlight at this festival, showcasing the diversity and excellence of wines originating from volcanic regions.
Enthusiasts of fine wines had the opportunity to discover and taste a unique selection of labels from our consortiums, accompanied by samples of MonteveroneseCheese. This allowed them to explore the volcanic terroirs that impart distinctive characteristics to these products.
2. Masterclass at the Forum Vini in Munich – November 4, 2023: On November 4, 2023, the project reached new heights of knowledge and awareness by participating in a Masterclass at the Forum Vini in Munich. The expert guidance of Ilka Lindemann, Editor-in-chief of Meininger’s Weinwelt magazine, enriched the session by sharing valuable insights into wine production linked to volcanic terrains. Participants and industry experts had the opportunity to delve into an understanding of cultivation techniques, the impact of volcanic soil on organoleptic characteristics, and the unique challenges faced by farmers in these regions.
November 2023 has proven to be a significant chapter in the history of the HEVA – Volcanic Agriculture of Europe project.
The enthusiasm generated during these events promises to further drive awareness and appreciation for the unique treasures that HEVA has to offer.
