The latest edition of ProWein 2024, held in Düsseldorf from March 10th to 12th, was yet another extraordinary opportunity for the HEVA project to celebrate volcanic-origin products not only with the German audience but also with enthusiasts from around the globe. The campaign “Volcanic Agriculture of Europe,” funded by the European Union under measure 1144, led participants on a fascinating journey to discover volcanic terroirs, highlighting the prestigious Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) such as Soave, Lessini Durello, Santorini, and Monte Veronese.
The project, represented by the Consortia of Soave and Lessini Durello alongside Santo Wines, provided enthusiasts and industry professionals with a unique opportunity to delve into the depths of these unique territories, engaging their senses and intellect in a captivating journey.
One of the highlights of the event was the sold out masterclass titled “Exploring Terroir and Volcanic Products with HEVA – Heroes of Europe Volcanic Agriculture,” held on Monday, March 11th. In collaboration with the prestigious Swiss publication Vinum, this session offered an unmissable opportunity to delve into the complexity and uniqueness of wines and agricultural products derived from volcanic soils. Hosted at Pavilion 1, Stand A40, it allowed industry experts to share their knowledge and passion for these natural treasures.
During the masterclass, experts guided participants on a sensory journey through Europe’s volcanic landscapes, unveiling the secrets of agricultural production in these unique environments. From the distinctive character of Soave and Lessini Durello wines to the complexity of Monte Veronese cheeses, and the culinary delights of Santorini, each product presented told a story of tradition, innovation, and respect for the land.
